Local Cuisine and Tradition
Dining out is very popular in North Cyprus especially for the locals. There is a wide range of influences available such as Mediterranean, Middle East and of course Turkish. Some of the larger towns also cater for a wider range of international styles.
A typical Cypriot meal would include a meze which would include hot and cold dishes such as hummus, kofte, hellim with a selection of dips. This would be followed by fish or kebabs and finished off with fruit and coffee.
A local delight is the seftali kebab this is made from mince meat, onion and spices then wrapped in lamb fat and grilled. For a tasty dessert you could try lokma, small doughnuts in syrup or baklava. To finish your meal you could try a Turkish coffee or Raki which is an alcoholic aniseed drink.
